Faculty of Quranic and Sunnah Studies
To achieve its initial aim and to widen the scope of its studies, USIM has established the Faculty of Quranic and Sunnah Studies for the 2000/ 2001 session and took its first group of students for the programme i.e. Bachelor of Quran and Sunnah Studies Programme.
It is the aspiration of this faculty to become another source to produce knowledgeable, skilful and professional graduates in the field of the Quran and Sunnah studies. The Faculty also hopes to spread the virtue of Islam by giving opportunities to the researchers and educators to study, learn and spread the knowledge and wisdom of the Holy Quran and Sunnah to the society and country.
The field of Quran and Sunnah studies is the most required field in Islam because it is fundamental in the Muslim’s life. Thus, the establishment of the Faculty of Quranic and Sunnah Studies will enhance the realisation of the Quran and Sunnah in the life of the Muslims in the rapid development of the technology and global modernisation. As in reforming the development of the civilisation, the development of the character of human capital is a priority for the country, the importance of the Quran and Sunnah Studies cannot then be denied.
Based on this realisation and aim, the Faculty of Quranic and Sunnah Studies is committed to further uphold the dignity of the Quran and Sunnah studies in the national education stream. Among the initiatives taken by the Faculty are offering several new innovative programmes which integrate the classical Quran and Sunnah Studies with other disciplines according to the aims and needs of the country. Thus, beginning the 2005/2006 academic session, two new programmes have been offered i.e. Bachelor of Quran Studies and Multimedia (Hons) and Bachelor of Sunnah Studies and Information Management (Hons). Both programmes offered are in collaboration with the Faculty of Science and Technology, USIM, and regarded as value to the students from the religious stream in Malaysia to further extend their knowledge with their core of the Quran and Sunnah Studies.
