Theoretical discussions begin with an introduction to the science of Tajwid, characteristics of Arabic letters, rulings related to the letters Mim and Nun in a state of sukun (non-vocalized), Mad Asli (basic elongation) and an introduction to Mad Far‘i (secondary elongation).
Sciences of the Quran (Ulum al-Quran):
Subtopics:
Introduction, revelation of the Quran (Nuzul al-Quran), the concept of divine revelation (wahyu), the compilation of verses and chapters, the first and last verses revealed, Nasikh and Mansukh (abrogation), Asbab al-Nuzul (circumstances of revelation), classification of Makki and Madani verses, and the revelation of the Quran in seven modes (ahruf).
Sciences of Hadith (Ulum al-Hadith):
Subtopics:
Introduction, history and development of Hadith sciences, the relationship between the Quran and Hadith, terminologies in Hadith studies, conditions and categories of acceptable Hadith (Hadith Maqbul), rejected Hadith (Hadith Mardud) due to broken chains of narration and their types, Hadith rejected due to questionable narrators and their types, fabricated Hadith (Hadith Mawdu’), and disciplines related to the content (matan) of Hadith.
